Best Places to Stay in Bay St. Louis, MS

Bay St. Louis, MS is a charming coastal town that offers visitors a mix of relaxation and adventure. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, there are plenty of options for places to stay in Bay St. Louis. From beachfront hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts, there’s something for everyone.

Bay St. Louis, MS, offers a range of accommodation types to suit different preferences and budgets. Here are some of the best options:

Hotels

For those who prefer the convenience and amenities of a hotel, Bay St. Louis has a few good options to choose from. The best choice is certainly the upscale Pearl Hotel, although The Hollywood Casino Hotel is a popular choice, offering comfortable rooms, a casino, and a pool.

1. Pearl Hotel

The Pearl Hotel is the first hotel built in downtown Bay St. Louis post Katrina, opening its doors in December of 2020. The Pearl is befitting of a hipper, more modern Bay St. Louis, as the 53-room boutique hotel is stunning to look at, with a very sleek and elegant design.

Visitors will certainly enjoy their stay, as The Pearl offers a number of great amenities. A feature of the hotel is definitely the outdoor courtyard and pool, which is stylish and features cabanas, multiple seating areas and a fire pit.

The in-house restaurant is the Thorny Oyster, which needless to say celebrates the local oyster industry, but also serves up delicious beef, chicken, and other seafood dishes. Hinge is a stylish cocktail bar serving signature craft cocktails, as well as a good selection of wines, liquors, and craft beers.

While the Pearl Hotel may be pricier than other options in the Bay St. Louis area, if you’re looking for a luxurious escape from life, I highly recommend staying at the Pearl. The atmosphere is wonderful, the rooms are very solid, and the amenities are top notch. Plus, you’re literally only steps away from both the Gulf and the many cool things to do in the Downtown area.

Book your stay at the Pearl here.

2. Hollywood Casino

While the Hollywood Casino Hotel is not as luxurious experience as the Pearl, it does have its advantages, as it offers a number of amenities that are simply not available at other area hotels.

First and foremost, the 291-room hotel is attached to the Hollywood Casino, which hosts more than 800 slot machines and 24 table games, as well as a poker room and a sportsbook. Hollywood also offers 4 in-house restaurants, a spa and salon, and plenty of entertainment. So, if you’re looking to get your gamble on, a stay at the Hollywood Casino Hotel might be right for you.

The resort grounds are also home to the Bridges Golf Club, the only Jack Nicklaus designed golf course on the Gulf Coast. So, you can play 18 holes and then take the easy walk right on back to your hotel room. They even offer up a great golf package deal. You can get an overnight stay, a $50 dining credit, and a round of golf for two people starting at $169. That’s a really great deal!

If gambling or golf are your thing, then the Hollywood Casino Hotel is likely a great choice for you. You can check out casino details and book your room right here.

Bed and Breakfasts

For a more intimate and personalized experience, a bed and breakfast might be the way to go. Here are the two Bed and Breakfasts that I highly recommend.

1. Bay Town Inn

If you’re looking for a unique place to stay in Bay St. Louis, then the Bay Town Inn is the place for you. Located in the heart of downtown, and a stone’s throw from the Gulf of Mexico, the Bay Town Inn has been nominated for Best Bed and Breakfast in Mississippi.

The Bay Town Inn offers four different styles of accommodations. There are 10 king suites available in the main building, all over 500 sq. ft. in size. The suites all have private full baths and have access to a shared kitchen and common room. On the second floor, The Lighthouse Room is huge and offers a private deck overlooking the sparkling saltwater pool.

The Cabana is a fully ADA compliant double room, but the true highlight of the property is The Residence. The Residence is The Bay Town Inn’s version of a Presidential Suite. It’s a private two-bedroom, two-bathroom home with two screened in porch areas, with one backing right up to the pool. It’s true luxury, and with only one available, its sure to be in high demand.

No matter which style of room you choose, you’re sure to experience true Southern charm and style. The decor is unmistakably coastal, and the fresh muffins delivered to your room will have you longing to come back on your next trip. Plus, you can walk to all of the great galleries, cafes and restaurants located in downtown Bay St. Louis.

One thing to keep in mind is that children under 15 years of age are not allowed at The Bay Town Inn, so keep that in mind if you have small children.

2. Carroll House Cottages

There’s nothing special about the accommodations at the Carroll House Cottages, but the experience of staying at the cottages is unique, as this Bed and Breakfast is tucked away in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

The main house is no longer available for rent as the owners now live there, but The Carroll House does offers two cottages – a one bedroom, and a two bedroom cottage, nicknamed the Salty Soul. The cottages, built in the 1890s are full of charming antique furnishings, and the Salty Soul offers up a full kitchen.

If you’re looking for a quaint and truly Bay St. Louis experience, then I would definitely recommend the Carroll House Cottages. If you want to book a cottage for the weekend, you’ll need to plan well in advance, but if you’re looking at a spur of the moment weekday trip, hit up the Carroll House website to check their availability.

Vacation Rentals

For those who prefer a home-away-from-home experience, vacation rentals are a great option. And with so few hotels available in or near Bay St. Louis, sometime renting a house or condo may be the only viable option for you. Here’s an example of a few rental properties that are available in the area.

1. Emerald Oaks 3 Bedroom Cottage

The great thing about vacationing at a rental home is that you get the opportunity to customize your experience. Are you looking for a house with a pool, or maybe near the beach? Do you just need a single room studio, or are you looking for a house with at least 5 bedrooms? One of the cool things about this 3 bedroom cottage is that the owners provide their renters with a golf cart to get around town, which comes in so handy in a small community like Bay St. Louis.
